What is a Credit Unions Children’s Savings Account?
A Credit Union children’s savings account (Minor account) is a savings account for a member who is under the age of 16. The account is the sole property of the minor in question and no one else is entitled to use it for his/her own benefit.
Opening a minor savings account is the most effective way to teach your kids money management and budgeting skills, as well as the value of work and reward!
Who can transact on a Children’s Savings Account?
- Anyone can lodge money into the child’s account
- If a child is under 7, Only the signing Parent/Guardian has authority to withdraw from the account.
- If a child is over 7, They must be accompanied by the signing Parent/Guardian.

- Completed application form
- Parent or Guardian’s proof of address (Dated within 3 months)
- The child’s proof of ID (Long birth Certificate or Passport)
